Grape Jelly Meatballs

Grape Jelly Meatballs

My boyfriend made this delicious appetizer for the Super Bowl a few weeks ago and I thought I would share with you guys. This recipe is very simple, and only involves 3 ingredients.

First you need to gather your ingredients which are grape jelly, meatballs, and barbecue sauce (or chili sauce).

gjm

Pre-Heat your oven to 325 degrees.

Second, you should mix the grape jelly (3/4 of the jar) and barbecue sauce (half bottle) in a bowl , then pour into your casserole dish. Make sure you mix it up good!

gjm3

Next, you add the bag of frozen meatballs in. Stir the meatballs around in the mixture until all of them are fully covered.

gjm2

Now, it’s time to put the dish in the oven. Leave it in for about 1hr 1/2 on 350 degrees. (check with a fork to see if they are done)

and voila! Time to eat 🙂

I also want to add that this appetizer can be made in a crockpot if you prefer it. Follow all the same steps but instead of the oven, let meatballs sit in the crockpot for about 3 hours.

Healthy Hair Tips

Maintaining our natural hair is a hard and lengthy task at times, especially for us naturals. Some products work for our hair and some does not but these tips will help any hair type become more healthy. For this post, I have composed a few tips and steps to make your hair routine a little easier and your hair more manageable.

beforeloc
Before L.O.C. Method

-Every 1-2 days you need to moisturize and seal to maintain hydration and softness. Natural hair needs moisture! Without it, our hair is dry, fragile, and subject to breakage. Using the L.O.C method is definitely a life-saver. If you are unfamiliar, the L.O.C method stands for Liquid, Oil, and Cream. Choose a leave-in that has the first ingredient listed as water. Next, choose and oil that will penetrate the hair and seal in the moisture for your leave in. Lastly, finish with a cream or butter based product to moisturize and seal in the liquid and the oil.

-Weekly, you should co-wash and deep condition to gently cleanse, rehydrate, soften, strengthen and retain elasticity.(Co-washing is short for “conditioner washing,” or cleansing your hair with your favorite conditioner instead of shampoo).  If co-washing is a regular part of your hair regimen, stay away from silicones. Many of these ingredients are easy to identify on product labels: look for ingredients ending in -cone. Many silicones are synthetic additives that are not water-soluble, making them a little bit harder to wash out without harsh detergents. The end result is yucky build-up on your hair and scalp.

After L.O.C. Method

– I know we all love hot water but make sure to rinse hair with cold water to close the cuticle and ALWAYS use a leave-in. If your hair is naturally dry or becomes dry frequently then you definitely need a leave in that will thoroughly moisturize your hair and have the ability to keep it moisturized for at least several days.

cantu
Cantu Leave-In Conditioner with Argan Oil

-Monthly, try special treatments with protein, henna or extra moisture to make hair stronger, more flexible, and stop or prevent breakage. Protein Treatments help to rebuild hair structure and strength. Your hair is about 88% protein. These proteins are of a hard fibrous type known as keratin. When hair is chemically straightened, these bonds are broken, causing the hair to lose strength. If this protein is not replaced, it will eventually cause the hair to break. Egg treatments are effective protein treatment for hair and usually stops breakage immediately.

After I finish washing my hair, I like to put it into bantu knots so that each section can equally get the same amount of product on it for maximum hydration.

Some products I personally love to use are:

  • Shea Moisture (Jamaican Castor Oil Line & Superfruit Complex)
  • Cantu (Natural Hair Line)
  • Coconut Oil
  • Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Not Your Mother’s (Way To Grow Conditioner)

If you want to take a more natural and cheaper approach by using foods from your kitchen, here are a list of a few and what value they can add to your hair health:

  • Avocado: For moisture & growth
  • Egg: Protein for strength, volume, texture, and shine.
  • Banana: The remedy for thinning, dry or frizzy hair.
  • Honey: Goes on thick for damage control.
  • Mayonnaise: Intense conditioner.
  • Oils: Olive, Jojoba, Coconut, Almond, and Castor oils strengthen and moisturize, while eliminating dandruff.

Protective Style

Always remember to use minimal heat or avoid it all together if you can. Eat healthy. Take hair vitamins. Drink tons of water. Do protective styles. And Lastly, be patient.!

Valentine’s Day Inspiration

Well ladies Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching! Are you planning on going out anywhere? Do you know what you are going to wear?

Dress? Shoes? Accessories?

If not, I’ve created a few looks that I would personally wear, so maybe this will give you a little idea or inspiration of your own outfit.

(From left to right …or up and down on mobile)

The first look is for those of you who rather have red as a secondary color. Use any color that complements red and voila!

The second look is a deeper red, a wine sort of color. Mix a little gold & black with it and you will look great!

The third look is more of a burgundy/maroon color. This style is for those of you who rather have a two piece outfit. You can wear black slacks with it, if you prefer.

The fourth look is pink! (my fav color) Pair it with black or even red if you want to be completely in the spirit.

All these outfits were created by me on Polyvore. Please read my Polyvore review below if you are unfamiliar with this.

Let me know what you think and what your plans are in the comments below 🙂

xoxo,

Happy Valentine’s Day

Fresh Wave

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Today I want to let you guys in on a little secret of how to get rid of those horrible odors in your life. Does your bathroom stink? How about your kitchen trash can? Or what about your car from picking the kids up after practice? Well, I have just the thing for you.

I recently discovered and tested out a product line called Fresh Wave. It is an odor eliminator made with natural ingredients (plant oils and water) which means it is safe for you and your family. These products do not mask odors or cover them up with fragrances, they actually remove odors at the source.

freshwave1

The Fresh Wave line consists of an odor removing spray, an odor removing gel and odor removing crystal packs. They all work perfectly to me! With the spray you can use it on clothing, shoes, your trash can, and anywhere else you can think of. As far as the gel, I like to sit it in my kitchen to eliminate the odors that may come from my garbage disposal and trash can. This gel will last for about 60-90 days, which is a really long time compared to other odor eliminators. The crystal packs can be used in smaller spaces such as the bathroom, your car or a closet and can last up to 60 days.

I encourage you to give it a try because you will be amazed by how well these products work. If you want to do a little more research you can check them out here: www.happyhealthyodorfree.com

NYC Expert Last Lip Color

I was browsing the makeup section in Walmart one day when I came across the New York Color cosmetics. I had been browsing the aisles for a new lipstick to try, when my eyes locked in on NYC’s Expert Last Lip Color lipsticks. I read the label and I grabbed three colors I wanted to try. Forever Fuchsia, Creamy Caramel, and Red Rapture.

Once I had the chance to try these lipsticks, I was in love! The colors were very vibrant and went on smooth. My favorite is Forever Fuchsia! Shades of pink are always my first go to colors because I am a lover of all things pink.

IMG_3509

One night I went out with my hubby and decided to wear the Red Rapture lipstick and to my amazement, the color stayed on all night long! We were out for about 4-5 hours and I never had to reapply, which can be a hassle sometimes if you don’t have great lighting. My lips looked great the whole night! ( the picture below is when I returned home)

I am very pleased with this product and will definitely be purchasing more. Speaking of purchasing… these New York Color Expert Last Lip Color lipsticks retail for only $1.99. A lot of great benefits for a low price. Also, make sure you exfoliate your lips and apply concealer before putting on your lipsticks for long lasting, beautiful results.

Sip & Shop at Target

For all you Target lovers out there, you may be living the dream pretty soon. Wouldn’t you just love to relax and sip on a nice mosccato while you shop? Well, pretty soon you will be able to according to the mass retailer.

The first store to get this experience will be a new Chicago store that is opening in October. Target has already applied for two different liqour licenses, confirmed by a spokesman, and plans to serve tapas-style dishes and wine. One is to sell alcohol in the store and the other is to serve it.

You will be free to walk around the store freely and sip on your drink. No restrictions! Say what?!? No approvals has been given yet but hopefully we will get to enjoy this “sip & shop” experience. I’m really looking forward to it!!

Eyes.Lips.Face.

Eyes Lips Face, better known as E.L.F. cosmetics. I’m sure most of you have seen this brand around in grocery stores like Kroger, or other big retailers like Target, K-Mart, CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart. Anyway, I absolutely LOVE e.l.f.! Their cosmetics are very affordable with prices ranging from $1… yes I said $1 to about $90 (depending on if you are getting a collection set). E.L.F. launched in 2004 and is guided by celebrity and beauty professional Scott-Vincent Borba. E.L.F. is a revolutionary new beauty company, able to provide a line of cosmetics that moisturize, hydrate, and enliven your complexion without taxing your budget.

A product that I cannot live without is E.L.F.s’ Lip Exfoliator! It gently exfoliates my lips to remove dry, chapped skin. It treats and soothes my lips for a conditioned and revitalized feel. They feel oh so soft and kissable. Lol and the best part is, this lip exfoliator only cost $3.00!

hn

I also own their foundation, lip stain, studio matte lip color, smudge pot, essential lipsticks, lip liners, duo mascara, all over color stick, brightening eye color, contour set, eye liners, and jumbo lip gloss stick. That’s a lot right? Well, guess what…most of this came from their sale section online so all of this combined cost no more than$15. The least amount items are priced at are just $0.39 and you get free shipping when you make your first purchase. (prices may vary) Right now, for customer appreciation, E.L.F. is putting free gifts like a tube of lipstick, eye shadow, or nail polish in each order, who doesn’t love freebies?! If you prefer to shop in store, the prices are as low as $1 and you have the satisfaction of using them right way. Either way I encourage you to check them out, here’s the website www.elfcosmetics.com or you can follow them on instagram @elfcosmetics. Oh and E.L.F. doesn’t test on animals!
